What is the cost to a business to accept credit cards, what is the best deal out there.?
It is in the 4% to 5% range of the total transaction. Some companies cap this at a certain amount, others don%26#039;t. It all depends on the type of deal you work out with which companies. American Express won%26#039;t with you to save their life. Master Care, Visa, and Discover should be willing to work with you on this depending upon the type of business, amount of transactions, etc...
What is the cost to a business to accept credit cards, what is the best deal out there.?
There is a percentage of the total transaction plus a transaction fee of .10 upwards.
The cost of processing credit is directly related to the business type and risk factor (risk of charge backs). Pricing is typically split into categories such as retail, mail-order/telephone order, internet, and high risk.
Retail businesses, business with an actual storefront, where the customer meets with the merchant face to face, and presents their card to be swiped, and where the product is delivered immediately, will have the lowest credit card processing fees. This is because these types of business generally receive the lowest amount of charge backs.
On the other end of the spectrum you have high risk merchants. Merchants selling adult related products, online pharmacies, gaming, etc. These business types have the highest chance of a charge back occurring, and therefore will pay higher fees, typically in the 4-7% range.
The best way for you to find the best price, is to shop around and get quotes from different processors.
