Can you go to jail for not paying your credit cards?
Not in the United States, she can however be sued and if the creditors get a judgment they can attach bank accounts, garnish wages (if your State allows it) and file liens on any other property she may own like cars, land and homes.
All of this activity will show on their credit report for the next 7-years making it very hard to get any other types of loans without making massive down payments, paying huge fees and State maximum interest rates.
Can you go to jail for not paying your credit cards?
No, not in the US she can%26#039;t, but she will wreck her credit and damage her credit rating for 7 years if she doesn%26#039;t get this cleaned up!
Liens could be placed against any real property or collateral as well and the outcome of not paying these credit cards will be worse than going to jail, which is bad enough!
Go to the website below and read it all! If your friends mom is having money trouble she should consider debt settlement and credit counseling first. even though this won%26#039;t look good on her credit either, it will be better than ignoring the problem!
There are links to help with cedit card debt this is not always a bad option!

No. It is a civil matter. They can sue (take her to civil court), but they cannot have an arrest made. It is still a bad idea though, as she could lose her house, her paycheck, etc.
