Have you ever considered having one last fling in your old age by getting all the credit cards you can lay your hands on and maxing them out?

I%26#039;d be afraid I would miscalculate and run out of money and credit before I ran out of time. And I%26#039;m far too chicken to take my own life. I often tell my children (joking, of course) that I%26#039;m planning to spend my last dollar on the day I die but if I miscalculate, it will be up to them to pick up the slack.

Thought about it, yes. Want to do it for real, no. Because somehow I am thinking the credit card companies would end up plaguing my relatives for all the money they supposedly lost, by my doing that. But who knows if the doctors only gave me 6 months to live or something, I may just do that anyway. Seeing as I have no family to speak of anymore.

Dearie, I HAVE thought of this different times--but I ended up pulling through. So, it was a good thing that I didn%26#039;t go through with it. I have good credit and could probably do some serious damage with a couple of cards. Wonder if you bought the stuff, maxed them out, gave away all those beautiful gifts, and then died...would those companies make your friends and family give it all back to them? That would be my big concern. If I went to all that trouble and wanted them to have them--I don%26#039;t want them to have to give them back to BIG corporate thugs.

Actually most older people I know talk about this. If their expenses get out of control it%26#039;s how they plan to finance old age. It means lousy credit the rest of your life but they will have nearly 100K of credit to max out. Provided credit stays well till the day it%26#039;s needed of course. To answer your question tho, yes, it%26#039;s a popular subject.

do it, your relatives aren%26#039;t responsible for your credit cards. Neither is your spouse... unless they%26#039;re a secondary user.. authorized users, they also are not responsible. I worked many years in skiptracing and back end collections, problem with credit cards was elderly put kids/grand kids on cards as auth users, guess what happens w/o card holders knowledge, cards charged to the max. After card holder passes, they just fax death cert, and case closed once death is verified with ss. Most credit card companys don%26#039;t go after estates, to expensive..

I have spent most of my life with a maxed out credit card. We paid it off and no longer have one. And it feels goooood.

Not me but my bio Dad did just that. He knew his heart was weak and put off surgery for two years. The last 6 months he went to online gambling. Wracked up $10,000 each on three cards. He passed with less than $200 in the bank, $300 in his wallet. He enjoyed it and it was unsecured debt and he had no estate.

No, with my luck I wouldn%26#039;t die. I got rid of all my credit cards with the exception of one for emergencies. I made darn sure I was rid of all my debts by the time I retired. Living expenses only!!! Do you suppose I can make my 2001 Ford Escort last another twenty years or so? I hate the idea of going into debt for another car.
