We see it al the time on tv. You seem to be able to assign your cards to other people to use whereas we just can;t do that in the UK unless you have a joint card holder.. even then that person has to be over 18 years old.. doesn%26#039;t that lead to more credit card fraud?

Americans are all about convenience. Some stores don%26#039;t even require a signature either under $50 or $20, depending on the store.

Some credit card companies allow you to have an %26#039;authorized user%26#039; added to the account, which means they can sign for purchases, but aren%26#039;t responsible for paying it. That%26#039;s up to the person who IS responsible, if they want that or not.

Does it lead to more fraud? Doubtfully, but those convenience factors where the merchant either doesn%26#039;t require a signature or doesn%26#039;t look at the card to verify it sure does. The banks don%26#039;t care about that though. The amount of fraud isn%26#039;t high enough to offset the amount of income they get from most of the purchases. Can you believe most people just pay their bill, they don%26#039;t even bother to look at what was charged!

There is no assignment involved. Most merchants simply do not have a policy of asking for ID...

You can do that in this country now if you give the person your pin number,they dont even look at your card in shops the just shove it in the machine and say %26#039;can you enter your pin number and press the green button%26#039; like little robots!
