Hi. When I was younger I had a couple of credit cards. I had a real good job. Then I ran into some finacial trouble and now I haven%26#039;t paid on my credit cards for a year or 2. I have a family now and am a stay at home mom. SO I just want to make sure I can%26#039;t go to jail. I am nervous. thank you.

Debtors prison was abolished years ago. I think PA brought it back in 1991, but am unsure if its still in effect.

Now if you had obtained the credit cards fraudulently that could qualify as fraud.

The credit card companies may also be able to pursue your spouse for the monies as well.

They could sue you for the monetary loss and then you could go to court...in which case your wages could be attached to the court order forcing you to pay. Which is why many w ill file bankruptcy.
